What if I am pregnant, have not taken a barre class before, or out-of shape? Could this work for me? +
YES! The Barre Studio welcomes and encourages everyone – All ages, genders, and fitness levels. If you're pregnant, we ask that you have been active prior to your pregnancy and that you consult with and have consent by your physician that you are clear to exercise. Because moderate exercise during pregnancy and postpartum can help you feel healthy, happy, and fit, we are here to offer support during this exciting time in your life! If you are taking class for the first time, focus on the muscle contractions and smaller movements. Do not be afraid to let your muscles shake. Shaking is a good thing! It means muscle fatigue which will improve with your advancement in the technique and classes. Our instructors are here to help you through class, offer modifications, and answer any questions you may have.
What do I wear to class? +
For both hygiene and safety barre grip- socks are compulsory foot wear @theBarre studios. We have socks for sale at the studio for your convenience. Workout pants and a singlet or t-shirt will get you ready to strengthen, tone, sweat and burn in no time! Keep away from loose shorts though as we will be stretching and lifting our legs and we want to keep it PG.
Do I need to bring anything to class? +
We will provide all the equipment necessary to have a great workout but you are encouraged to bring water and a towel. Water is also sold at the studios for your convenience. Socks are compulsory for barre classes.
How do I pay for my class? +
Either in the studio or online. Our classes are all pre-booked as we are boutique, which means small numbers, so spaces go fast. To guarantee your spot please book in at least 1 day before the class.
Can I waitlist a class? +
Yes, we definitely recommend doing this. We keep up to five names on our waitlist as we do get cancellations so you often get into your favorite class - you will receive an email if a space becomes available and our clever booking system will automatically add you onto the roster.
Is there a change room/shower/bathroom? +
We have 1 change room in the City studio and a bathroom is located on our level for both the City and Rose Bay studios. However there is no shower facility.
What if I need to cancel? +
Please log into your account and cancel online. Unfortunately if you don’t attend, or cancel within FOUR hours of the class start time, or the night before early morning classes you will be charged for the class.
Which train station is closest? +
The City studio is located smack bang in the middle of Wynyard and Town Hall stations. If it’s raining you can walk undercover the whole way from Town Hall. For Rose Bay studio the nearest station is Edgecliff and the bus will take you right to our front door! We are also walking distance to the Rose Bay Ferry.
How soon will I see results? +
You can see results in just a few classes! For optimal results, classes should be taken at least 3-4 times per week. Your actual results will vary, as it depends on how often you are coming and what you are eating!
What will @theBarre do for my body? +
By taking @the Barre classes, you will burn calories and gain lean muscle. By applying low-impact, isometric movements we target and tone desired areas of your body, creating heart strength through challenging movements and a total body workout that lifts your seat, tones your thighs, creates abs, shapes arms, and burns fat in record- breaking time.
Are there different levels of @theBarre classes? +
All our classes are created on the same level and include technical cues and options given that work for people at all levels of fitness. Therefore, you can choose the class that suits your schedule, rather than being forced to work out at a specific time based on the level of class. The positions and movements are very do-able, no co-ordination needed - it's how deep you work in certain movements that makes the difference to the intensity and as you gain fitness we challenge you more .
Why do I shake and get muscle tremors in class? +
When your muscles are reaching the point of fatigue you often experience shaking. never fear this is the 'happy shake' and you have reached a goal of taking your body to the next level of fitness! We always include a good Yoga/Ballet stretch, to rid the muscles of lactic acid while they are warm and malleable so you don't walk around in pain for days after. This also gives you those long, lean limbs you want!
Can I bring the kids or my dog? +
Unfortunately we do not have facilities for kids or dogs. Due to weights and equipment children under 15 may not attend class or wait in the waiting room area. We don't recommend leaving your dog tied up outside for an hour. Dogs may not be left in the waiting room or bathroom area.
